Some of the strategies that the kids used to learn the words, were memorization skills, and lots of them. They studied five to nine hours a day words and words. They even created games so that they could learn how to spell the words correctly. Studying was like their hobby, it was the only thing they did. Even studying straight from the dictionary which is like impossible to do. Their parents also had some strategies that they told their kids they had to do.

Should bookstore prizes be that high? Have you ever wondered were does the money of the bookstore go to? Students, including me, often think only about what benefits them. But sometimes, we have to dig deep to find the real value of things. There are a lot of things we don’t notice that make us who we are and how we act. For example helping other people, just because you don’t know that you are doing it doesn’t mean you are not helping.

When you ask someone about the bookstore, the first thing they will tell you is, “prizes are too high!” We may think that the CNG bookstore is too expensive, and that all they want is our money since all they do is keep changing the prizes of food, literally every month. The inflation of the bookstore is too high! But sometimes, we have to see things from a different point of view. And no, I’m not saying that the prizes are low, or that they should be changed. All I’m trying to do here is show you what we sometimes complain about, even when there is no need to.

Were does all the money go to? That is a not so complicated question, with a simple answer. The Hogar Nueva Granada, those kids who basically don’t have anything and live in the poorest conditions we can imagine. Yes, that’s where the money goes. We may complain all we want about how expensive the food is, but we still buy it because we can and are privileged enough to do so. These kids? They don’t have half as much as we do. They could never be able to afford a 2,000 pesos arepa. But that doesn’t really matter because we can. And by we doing that, we are helping people who need it. When we help kids like the Hogar Nueva Granada students, we are basically giving them an educational opportunity and a chance to be something more in life.

Even the smallest change can make the difference. So, the next time you go to the bookstore and buy something, think twice. And yes, the brownies and cookies or treats that are made buy other students, obviously don’t go to the Hogar. But the other twenty thousand things they sell there do. Hopefully prizes will stay the same and stop from rising. Let’s face it, I’m a student too, I don’t like spending my money. Just like all of you hate it too. But why not help underprivileged kids when we are able, and have the power to do it?

Race, Is it Important or Essential?

In this article, we can see deeply what matters and what doesn't in school admissions. This article also made mi think a lot. Is this happening only with law schools? What do deans see in students? What is it that really matters when you come to applying to college or universities? Race is a pretty small word, but with a lot of meaning. The real question having to do with this article is, if it's really something important or essential?

What their looking for, is the best possible students, and this can only happen by looking at their background information. I do think that what they do is really smart, they are looking for the best class possible and this can only happen by looking at all of the variables and options there is. I bet these dimensions they talk about are pretty complex, but from what I understood; they also look for something or various very specific things. Why race? Why should race matter? These "race dimension qualities" they talk about do make a lot of sense to me. Race plays a huge role in someones life, and I love how the author makes this something very important and something we should all think about. You obviously have to see the entire application to evaluate a person, but if race make your class a better one, why not encourage it?

Even Gods Wonder

Gilgamesh seems pretty lost without Enkidu. "Must I die too?" Gilgamesh is pretty much feeling the fear of death in his belly. (Tablets IX, page 48.) How will he able to survive without his soul-brother? In these two chapters he proves that by going on a terrible journey he wants to overcome his fears and search for eternal life. Gilgamesh is trying to show us that even the strongest of all fear, but even fear can be overcame.

Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. That is said in The Hunger Games and proven in Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is totally freaked out. He loves Enkidu but doesn't want to join him in the other life. He's actually looking for a god to help him look for the key of an infinite life. He was really scared at first, but then as the story goes on, Gilgamesh get stronger and goes on a journey that no human has ever done before.

Have you ever heard the song Memories? If I didn't know better I would say it was made for Gilgamesh and Enkidu. It's about how a man loses his girl and practically wants to die because he couldn't live without her. Gilgamesh and Enkidu's relationship was very very close, too close in mi opinion. He lost his brother but then showed us how he was able to move on and be remembered as Gilgamesh the great forever. 

Gilgamesh, the One and Only

I honestly dont know why, but I feel pretty connected to this book. It shows how opposites attract, and thats probably one of the things that I live daily and love watching how they work. Gilgamesh   and Enkidu remind me of an old chinese symbol, the yin-yang. And do you know were I see the yin-yang on a daily basis? Pretty much everywhere.

Lets start with my brother. We are total opposites. There is not a thing that we agree on, and when there is, we then notice we don't and start fighting again. Have you ever watch those episodes in The Fairly Odd Parents when the evil opposites of Cosmo or Wanda apear and are the exact different thing? Thats my brother and me. Even though he is not my twin, I'm pretty sure deep down he is my evil twin. Even though we seem like enemies, without each other, we would probably be working in McDonalds trying to figure out our life's. "Create his double, and let the two contend." I'm pretty sure that was what god was thinking when he made us siblings.

Enkidu is probably my favorite character. He reminds me of my grandfather. Not because of his hairy body or his animal like senses, but because he fought for what he stood for. In the book, when Enkidu said, "Take me to Uruk, the city of Gilgamesh, whose aura and power cannot be withstood", reminded me of my grandfather taking every challenge. And not the eating food contests or the wrestling fights my brothers and I did with him sort of challenges, but the ones where he showed us his feelings and how to use them correctly. I not once saw him cry, not even in the most terrible moments when even the strongest soldier would've cried. Nor did I ever know a person who had as many friends and knew the meaning of friendship as he did.

We may think that the books we read don't make sense, or don't ever connect with our personal life. I think the exact opposite. Even in the stupidest or craziest book you've ever read, like Twilight (wich was terrible by the way), you will always have a memory or something that will connect you to it. Even though Gilgamesh is a little bit odd, with all the dudes kissing and stuff, I did like how the book made me think and remember or connect with my personal life.
